This year during National Pollinator week, the utility will host garden tours at three Pollinator Project garden installations, and interested community members are invited to visit the downtown Electric Center for educational guest presentations on planting healthy pollinator habitat at home, guided garden tours and pollinator themed kid’s activities!

Guest Speaker Schedule:

10:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. Steven Clark
Steven Clark is a professor of biology at Clark College. In his first teaching career he taught at the Washington School for the Deaf in Vancouver. He is currently the project manager for Clark College’s Bee Campus. Steven is married to Cherie Kearney and together they are raising their granddaughter Kacee in Washougal. In addition to teaching at Clark, Steven contributes to research on the American pika, sage grouse in Oregon, native bumblebees and rare plants of Washington State. Steven enjoys reading, running and animals from native snails to native bees.

11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Michael O’Loughlin
Michael O’Loughlin is the Environmental Sustainability Manager at Clark Public Utilities in Vancouver, WA. He and his team have led the utility’s efforts to establish pollinator habitat at existing utility facilities. In his spare time, he is an instructor for the Master Melittologist program at Oregon State University and a member of the Washington Bee Atlas and serves on the Washington State Pollinator Health Task Force. He also trains Master Gardeners. And in 2021 he and his brother were awarded the NAPPC Farmer-Rancher Pollinator Award for the US.
