CLARK PUBLIC UTILITIES’ STREAMTEAM INVITES VOLUNTEERS TO NOVEMBER TREE PLANTING EVENTS, NOV. 5 & 19

More Than 30 Varieties of Native Trees to Shelter Salmon Creek

VANCOUVER, WA – Oct. 31, 2011 – Clark Public Utilities’ StreamTeam invites volunteers to register for two November planting events. Teams led by trained Stream Stewards will plant hundreds of trees streamside in the Salmon Creek watershed.

“Autumn is the perfect time to plant so trees are healthy, rooted and ready to flourish when spring arrives,” said Ashley King, StreamTeam program coordinator for Clark Public Utilities. “The native vegetation helps to prevent erosion along stream banks and provides shade to keep the creek cool for returning salmon.”

Events are separate and volunteers are welcome to sign-up for one or both planting events. Advance registration is required and all tools and training will be provided. The events will be held rain or shine.

When:             November 5 and November 19, 8:45 a.m. – 1 p.m.

Register:         Contact Ashley King at 360-992-8585 or [email protected] to register and receive details.
