CLARK PUBLIC UTILITIES BOARD REVIEWS PERFORMANCE AND ADJUSTS GENERAL MANAGER SALARY

VANCOUVER, WA – July 3, 2024 – Following an annual review of her performance, the Clark Public Utilities Board of Commissioners voted unanimously to increase CEO and General Manager Lena Wittler’s salary by 5 percent from $335,000 to $351,750, effective July,1 2024. A car allowance of $400 per month and other benefits remain unchanged. She has served as CEO and General Manager since June 2019.

“Under Ms. Wittler’s leadership, Clark Public Utilities continues to prioritize excellent service for our customers with strategic planning and investment decisions that will continue into the future,” said President of the Clark Public Utilities Board of Commissioners Jim Malinowski.

“In my 30 years as a commissioner, 2023 was perhaps one of the most challenging, yet Ms. Wittler and her team navigated with diligence and unwavering focus on our customers’ best interests,” said Clark Public Utilities Commission Vice President, Nancy Barnes. “I believe more challenging times are ahead, but I’m confident in the leadership strength of our General Manager to work through them.”

“We and utilities across the region are facing new regulatory constraints, growing energy demand and increased financial pressures, but thanks to the hard work of Ms. Wittler and staff, the utility continues to function extremely well,” said Commission Secretary Jane Van Dyke. “In the last year, Clark Public Utilities won numerous industry awards for customer satisfaction and operational performance.”

Clark Public Utilities has ranked highest in customer satisfaction among mid-size electric utilities in the West by J.D. Power for 16 consecutive years. The prestigious study evaluates all areas of the utility from system reliability to billing and from customer service to environmental stewardship. It is an indicator of the efficiency and effectiveness compared to similar-sized electric utilities.
